Course Overview: This course prepares students to work alongside physicians in a clinical setting, performing both medical procedures like administering injections and assisting with exams, as well as administrative tasks such as managing patient records.

Demand & Relevance: The need for clinical medical assistants is growing rapidly due to the increasing demand for healthcare services, particularly with the aging population. Clinical medical assistants provide vital support that allows doctors and nurses to focus on direct patient care.

Job Opportunities: Graduates can work in various settings, including hospitals, physician’s offices, outpatient clinics, and urgent care centers.

Course Synopsis

A clinical Medical Assistant (CMA) is a multi-skilled healthcare professional who specializes in procedures commonly performed in the ambulatory healthcare setting. Medical Assistants perform both clinical and administrative duties. Clinical duties include but not limited to taking patient histories and vital signs, assisting with exams and procedures, administering certain injections as directed by the physician, performing EKGs, Phlebotomy, collecting specimens, performing CPR and First Aid, adhere to OSHA regulations, infection control, and sterile technique. Other areas include working in the electronic health record (HER), HIPAA regulations, and insurance fundamentals.

This is a 250-hour program that will include clinicals in one of our contracted medical facilities.

Upon completion, the student will be awarded a Certificate of Completion and will be eligible to become certified through the National Health Career Association (NHA). This test is optional but is recommended to become certified. This test is proctored at the school, and the training offered in our program meets the guidelines for the NHA exam.

Prerequisite:

Must have a high school diploma or GED
2 step PPD
Sled Background check that meets approval
Basic computer skills
