Course Overview: Designed to equip students with the foundational skills and knowledge required to provide essential in-home care for individuals with chronic illness, disabilities, or aging-related conditions.

Demand & Relevance: The demand for home health aides (HHAs) is growing rapidly, driven by factors like the aging population, preference for home-based care, and healthcare cost savings. As more seniors age and face chronic health conditions, many prefer to receive care at home rather than in hospitals or nursing homes.

Job Opportunities: Home Health Aides can find employment  in various settings, including private homes, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and home healthcare agencies.

 

Course Synopsis

Home Health Aide training course provides students with essential knowledge to perform all duties required of a home health aide such as assisting people with daily activities that include personal care, housekeeping, and companionship. Students will learn how to support the physical and safety needs of clients in the setting in the home or skilled facility, become knowledgeable of preventing the spread of infections, what the differences between that of Home Health Aide (HHA) and a Nursing Assistant (NA), the effects of proper nutrition and healthy meals, feeding and how to care for pediatric patients.
Upon completion of, the student will be awarded a Certificate of Completion and become eligible to take the National Exam through National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) certified.

Course Hours:

75 hours class/skills
16 hours clinical

Course Schedule For 2026:

Classes 3 days a week of 5 hours each day for 5 weeks for lecture/skills lab/CPR
16 hours of clinical during the 6th week Mon-Friday
Day Classes : 9 am—2 pm Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays
Clinicals are at 9 am—5 pm.

Late registration is taken into consideration if seats are available.

Drop Date
If students wish to cancel enrollment, it must be done in writing. PDMCTC must be contacted within 3 business days of signing the enrollment agreement to receive a full Refund. After the 3rd day, $100.00 will be retained for the registration fee. The refund of payment may take up to 40 days.

Prerequisite:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Complete a 2 step TB skin test prior to clinical
  • SLED background check that meets approval
