Course Overview: This online program teaches students how to support licensed pharmacists by preparing medications, helping customers, and managing prescription records to ensure medications are dispensed safely and efficiently.

Demand & Relevance: The demand for pharmacy technicians is increasing as pharmacies expand their role in providing patient care, such as managing chronic diseases, immunizations, and wellness screenings.

Job Opportunities: Graduates can find employment in retail pharmacies, hospital pharmacies, long-term care facilities, and mail-order pharmacies.

 

Course Synopsis

An Online “hybrid” Pharmacy Technician course designed to provide students with a solid foundation in interpreting prescription, such as hard copies and electronic prescription, pharmacy calculations, pharmacy laws, compounding and packaging. This comprehensive educational tool complements the hands-on tasks that are crucial for delivering safe, effective, and efficient patient care.
Pharmacy technicians work in hospitals, pharmacies, drug stores, and grocery stores under the supervision of a license pharmacist. They are responsible for getting people the correct medication, giving clear instructions about how to take and store the medication, and answering any questions about medications. The online Pharmacy
Technician offers performance feedback as students navigate through the course and outline targeted activities to achieve skill proficiency.
Upon completing the course, students will receive a certificate of completion from PeeDee Medical Career Training Center and complete a Pharmacy Technician Registration Application located on the website under Apply for a
License at www.llr.sc.gov/bop/  and students are eligible for the national exam by NHA or PTCB. An examination is not required to become a registered Pharmacy Technician in South Carolina.

Course Hours:

Online “hybrid class” lecture (approximately 260 hours online) over 16 weeks
Simulation lab 12 hours skills in person
Note: Student Portal will open on Sunday at 12am and close on Saturday at 12am each week.
40 hours clinical at a local pharmacy

Course Schedule :

Students must come to PeeDee Medical Career Training Center for the skill/lab two days a week. Students will also
attend clinical.

Late registration is taken into consideration if seats are available.

Drop Date
If students wish to cancel enrollment, it must be done in writing. PDMCTC must be contacted within 3 business days of signing the enrollment agreement to receive a full Refund. After the 3rd day, $100.00 will be retained for the registration fee. The refund of payment may take up to 40 day

Prerequisites :

Must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED

2 step PPD hours

Sled Background check that meets approval

Basic computer skills
