Course Synopsis
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) program is designed to train individuals to provide direct care to patients in various healthcare settings, such as hospitals, nursing homes, and long-term care facilities. The Patient Care Technician program combines training in Nursing Assistant, EKG Technician, and Phlebotomy courses. The curriculum of a PCT program aims to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles as caregivers, assist patients with activities of daily living, and support nursing and medical staff. Individuals will learn patient safety, quality assurance, and universal and standard precautions. Upon successful completion of the class, skills labs, and clinical; the student will receive a certificate of completion from Pee Dee Medical Career Training Center. This course prepares the students for the National Health Career Association Certification Exam offered through NHA and earns the designation of CPCT/A.
