Course Overview: This course teaches the skills needed to draw blood samples from patients for medical testing, blood donations, and research, with a focus on safety, accuracy, and patient care.

Demand & Relevance: Phlebotomy technicians are in high demand as blood testing is a critical part of diagnosing and monitoring health conditions. With the rise in diagnostic testing and preventative healthcare, this role is increasingly necessary.

Course Synopsis

This course provides phlebotomy instruction to the student with a working knowledge of collecting blood and other specimens with emphasis on patient safety, quality assurance, and universal and standard precautions. This course utilizes lecture clinical laboratory and demonstrated methodology. Upon successful completion of the class, skills labs, and clinical; the student will receive a certificate of completion from Pee Dee Medical Training Center of LC. This course prepares the student for the National Health Career Association Certification Exam.

Course Hours:

80 hours of class / lecture
20 hours of clinicals
100 total hours

Course Schedule:

Classes meet 2 times a week.
Both day and evening classes are available.
Day Classes: 10 am – 2 pm – Wednesday & Friday.
Evening Classes: 5 pm – 8 pm – Wednesday & Thursday.

Prerequisite:

Must complete a two-step PPD and Sled background check prior to clinical.
